Miniflore in the spotlight Source Édition was back on Télématin on France Télévisions on the occasion of Mother's Day. A huge thank you to journalist Sylvie Adigard for shining a light on our Miniflore N°1, designed in 1970 by Claude Courtecuisse, rediscovered in the archives of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. In 1970, Claude Courtecuisse designed the Miniflore as a tribute to his mother, always keeping the last fresh flower from a fading bouquet, placing it alone in her favourite cup. Source Édition: French expertise celebrated in Milan During Milan Design Week, Source Édition took part in the exhibition "Faire Ensemble – Crafting the French Art de Vivre", presented in the 5VIE district. Organised by Manufactures nationales – Sèvres & Mobilier national, the exhibition highlighted the excellence of French craftsmanship through a dialogue between artisanal heritage and contemporary creation. Founded by Isabelle de Ponfilly and Joséphine Bursacchi, Source Édition continues its work around the reissue of iconic 20th-century design pieces, reinterpreting them through contemporary uses and aesthetics. For this edition, several new pieces enriched this approach: "TU-TU" was presented for the first time in a walnut-veneered version, offering a warmer and more enveloping reading of the piece. The "Pliée" lamp, also unveiled in Milan, explored the interplay of metal and light through a modular construction conceived for use as both a table lamp and a wall light. The collection was completed by several creations extending this reflection on the reactivation of the design heritage, balancing respect for the original lines with adaptation to contemporary aesthetic and functional expectations. Portée par Manufactures nationales – Sèvres & Mobilier national, cette exposition mettait en avant l’excellence des savoir-faire français à travers un dialogue entre héritage artisanal et création contemporaine. Fondée par Isabelle de Ponfilly et Joséphine Bursacchi, Source Édition poursuit son travail autour de la réédition de pièces emblématiques du design du XXe siècle, en les réinterprétant dans des usages et des écritures contemporaines. Pour cette édition, plusieurs nouveautés venaient enrichir cette démarche: « TU-TU » était présenté pour la première fois dans une version plaquée noyer, offrant une lecture plus chaleureuse et plus enveloppante de cette pièce. La lampe « Pliée », également dévoilée à Milan, explorait quant à elle le travail du métal et de la lumière à travers une construction modulable, pensée aussi bien pour un usage en lampe de table qu’en applique murale. L’ensemble était complété par plusieurs créations prolongeant cette réflexion sur la réactivation du patrimoine design, entre respect des lignes d’origine et adaptation aux attentes esthétiques et fonctionnelles contemporaines. FRENCH MANUFACTURERS FACE MARKET CHALLENGES Source, Principe: Two New Publishers Between Reissue and Creation The year 2025 saw the creation of two new contemporary furniture publishing houses. Founded by the mother-daughter duo Isabelle de Ponfilly and Joséphine Bursacchi, in partnership with the Mobilier national, Source Édition sets out to breathe new life into a generation of major creators from the 1950s to 1970s, whose avant-garde, even visionary work has fallen into obscurity. A commitment to preserving and passing on a heritage, which takes the form of faithful reissues of iconic pieces in collaboration with the designers or their rights holders: works by André Monpoix (with the Mobilier national), Turenne Chevallereau (with the Mobilier national), Giuseppe Rivadossi, Ben Swildens, and Claude Courtecuisse are published with an extreme attention to detail. Source Édition inaugurated its permanent showroom last October, near the Place des Victoires. A big thank you to Sylvie Adigard for mentioning us in her segment dedicated to wall lighting trends, and for shining a light on the Pliée lamp, designed in 1970 by Ben Swildens and faithfully reissued by Source Édition. A sculptural play of geometry and light, Pliée can be used as a table lamp or mounted as a wall light, with or without a cord. Chic Repetita BY SOLINE DELOS Reissues of furniture by great design names are multiplying. Why this enthusiasm, and how can one make sense of it? What is a reissue? It is a piece designed by a named designer whose manufacturing rights have been acquired from the rights holders by a manufacturer or editor, who undertakes to reproduce it in accordance with the original model. (...) The idea, as Isabelle de Ponfilly explains, is always “to improve without distorting.” Why this enthusiasm? “Buying a reissue of a design classic means making a piece of history your own, something that has stood the test of time, and sometimes also rediscovering pieces of astonishing modernity created by forgotten designers,” explains Jean-Paul Bath, director of the gallery Le French Design by VIA. According to Isabelle de Ponfilly, co-founder with her daughter Joséphine Bursacchi of the young house Source Édition, reissues make rare and expensive works accessible.
