In Oberkampf, two new architect-designed restaurants you absolutely need to discover

After a soft opening before the summer, the former Top Chef contestant’s first Parisian restaurant, inspired by Iberian flavours, is now officially open.
To accompany Diego Alary’s simple, warm and unpretentious culinary style, Panela chose not to impose a strong design signature. On the façade, the intervention is kept to a minimum and blends into the existing architecture. Everything happens inside… and in the evening. Candlelight, integrated into the furniture and raw walls, is reflected in the glossy azulejos sourced directly from Portugal, both a nod to and a tribute to Diego Alary’s origins.
The same approach can be found in the architecture: the furniture was sourced jointly with Studio Bursacchi, creating interesting combinations such as Ben Swildens’ Jumelles wall lights from the 1970s, reissued by Source Édition, which bloom across the vast mirrored wall (...).
